After ascending the tea fields in the morning, make your way down to the Yulpo (Yulpo) coast. It’s a sandy cove where an ancient pine forest grows densely, stretching all the way to the beach. The pine trees cast deep shadows over the sand, and the sea glitters through their trunks. Then, conclude your day with something Boseong does exceptionally well: a seawater green-tea bath (haesu nokchatang) directly facing the ocean.
The Pine Grove Beach
As its name “Solbat” (pine grove) suggests, Yulpo Solbat Beach (Yulpo Solbat Haesuyokjang) is a beach renowned for its beautiful pine forest. These very trees are the reason to visit. Wind-sculpted, tall pine trees stretch for hundreds of meters along the sandy shore. Their canopy transforms the beach into a shaded park, with hidden art installations and hammocks nestled among the trunks. The sea is just a short walk through the trees. It’s calm and beautiful, offering an atmosphere completely different from the bustling resort beaches further up the coast.
The Green-Tea Spa
Both facilities draw seawater from 120 meters underground and infuse it with locally cultivated Boseong tea leaves. The result is warm, mineral-rich, subtly tinted water, known to clarify skin, improve elasticity, and alleviate fatigue. Both are authentic establishments, well worth experiencing.
1. Boseong Davichi Condo Sauna (Boseong Dabichi Kondo Haesu Nokchatang)
This is my preferred spot: a seawater green-tea sauna located within the Davichi Condo resort, right on the beachfront. The indoor pools feature expansive windows overlooking the South Sea and the silvery pine forest, ensuring you’re always connected to the scenery.
It offers all the amenities of the main center: seawater pools, green tea pools, saunas, themed baths, and more. Convenience facilities (supermarket, restaurants, cafes) are all interconnected, making it easy to spend a full half-day here.
2. Yulpo Sea & Green Tea Centre (Yulpo Haesu Nokcha Senteo)
Operated by Boseong County, this public facility was rebuilt in 2018 into a modern three-story building, becoming the primary destination for most visitors.
The highlight here is the 3rd-floor outdoor rooftop bath. Immerse yourself in the hot seawater bath while enjoying panoramic views of Deungnyangman Bay and the pine-lined beach. On clear mornings, it’s also one of the best sunrise spots in the area.
What’s inside:
- 1st Floor — Local specialty store, cafe
- 2nd Floor — Indoor baths (deep green tea bath, seawater bath, hydrotherapy bath). The green tea water is deeply brewed, taking on a rich, earthy-yellow hue.
- 3rd Floor — Outdoor rooftop baths (foot bath, cold plunge pool, children’s pool), aquatonic pool, themed sauna rooms (loam, salt, jade, ice)
You can use just the 2nd-floor baths, or rent a swimsuit to access the rooftop and sauna floors as well. The facility is wheelchair-accessible around the pools. Operating hours: 06:00–20:00, daily.
Standard Korean bathhouse etiquette applies at both locations — shower before entering, and bring your own toiletries or purchase them on-site.
The classic Boseong day
Morning tea fields → Midday shaded pine grove beach walk → Afternoon warm green-tea bath → Sunset over the bay. This is the perfect Boseong itinerary. While most international visitors only see the tea fields, those who make it down to Yulpo often say it’s the highlight of their day.
Getting there
Yulpo is about a 10-15 minute drive south of the main Daehan Dawon tea fields. To go by bus, take the Yulpo 70 (or 70-1) intercity/rural bus from Boseong Bus Terminal — this bus passes through Boseong Station and Daehan Dawon before reaching Yulpo Beach. The journey takes approximately 25-30 minutes. If you have a lot of luggage or young children, a local taxi or rental car would be faster.
